What is this, you ask? This represents the end of Mika's first fund raising experience for her softball career! We were a bit panicked in the beginning, when informed that there was no "out" - you couldn't just pay extra money to get out of fund raising - that EVERYBODY had to sell 2 boxes ($120 worth) of chocolate. No if's, and's, or but's. We couldn't complain, because her coach has SEVEN kids playing in the league and therefore, his family has to sell 14 boxes of chocolate! What an awful time in the world to be fund raising, too. Luckily, S. goes to different places for his work and in addition, we had one work party, so after 4 such "efforts", we were left with one little candy bar, which we happily bought for ourselves. We did purchase $20 of other chocolate for ourselves (you can't ask others to purchase without being willing to do so yourself) and it is G-O-O-D S-T-U-F-F. Mmmmmmmmmmm!
I was finally able to see how Mika takes her reading quizzes at school yesterday. She logs into the computer, puts on her headphones (the program reads the questions and possible answers to her) and then answers five questions about the book she read the previous evening. She got 5 out of a possible 5 that day - good girl! Woohoo!It never ceases to amaze me, how kindergarten has changed since we were children. Remember when kindergarten was all about play time and snacks? And only a small handful of children could read by the end of kindergarten? Well, those days are gone... for better or worse...
And in the afternoon, we were pleasantly surprised by a phone call from H., inviting the girls over to play. C. and S. have the GeoTrax train system and as you can see, H, is a terrific mom, setting up the train tracks with all sets of "stops". The kids had a great time, as always. And hey, just take a look at that beautiful new carpet!
