The girls went back to school yesterday - yippee! We don't do much, in the way of "back to school" shopping, because we are buying them cute clothes throughout the year. We do, however, buy a new backpack every other year and several new pairs of shoes (and we'll buy more of those again in a few months!).
And although we do buy them matching clothes, we only do so because THEY like to match. I have no idea why. And yes, we do occasionally have people come up and ask if they're twins - but usually only if they're sitting down somewhere. I'll bet that later in life, the girls will somehow decide to blame US for "making" them dress in matching clothes.
They seem to like their new teachers and most of the people in their classes. Mika is sitting next to someone she has known since kindergarten, but he's pretty hyper and likes to touch her stuff and talk a lot. She's a lot like me, so this is bugging her, but we tell her he can't help it and he probably won't be able to stop, but that if it bugs her, to ask him nicely (repeatedly) to stop. I wonder how long she'll go before she loses patience - hopefully a long time! I just hope her classwork won't suffer because of it, but we'll see.
Happy first day of school! Wow, the girls looks so much older! Twenty years from now, you can point to this blog post and tell the girls the matching dresses was their idea.
